Dr. Mathias Baur

Dr. Mathias Baur is a co-founder and Managing Director of Smartlane GmbH, a deep tech company focused on digitalising part load distribution logistics where dispatching processes have been largely analogue. Together with his two co-founders he advocates the use of AI-based software to realise the enormous optimisation potential this segment harbours.

Smartlane Transport Intelligence is a solution designed to simplify the dispatch process significantly while increasing the number of pieces dispatched, reducing the dispatcher workload, and cutting logistics costs in the part load distribution business. The solution won the AI Award in 2019.

Dr. Baur earned a “Diplom” degree (equivalent to a Masters) at Technical University of Munich, followed by six years of research into mobility data analytics and simulation, and the completion of his PhD. He also conducted studies at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden and studied for one year at the University of Virginia.
