Shaping an Aftersales Logistics Network from scratch

Our customers keep the world moving – it’s our job at Customer Services & Parts at Daimler Truck AG to support them in the best possible way. An efficient and customer-oriented parts logistics is key to success in getting vehicles back on the road all over the world as quickly as possible.

Since Daimler Truck AG became independent, a new logistics network is built tailored to the truck customers and Daimler Truck will leave previously joint logistics centers with Mercedes-Benz AG. Within a few months, around 20 Parts Centers and a completely new supply chain will be created from scratch all around the world. The transformation is currently running at full speed – all global projects have started and the first Daimler Truck Parts Centers are already in operation. A snapshot shows which milestones have already been mastered and which ones are still to come.

11:15 Digital collaboration along the entire transport process in land transport

More and more companies are focusing on increasing the productivity of their employees. This is achieved by linking relevant systems and automatically exchanging information throughout the transport process. The procurement of transports on the spot market can be time consuming. With the right tools, this is now done digitally and efficiently in a familiar network of business partners. It is precisely with these business partners that intensive and lengthy communication takes place in the transport process. Mostly provided with outdated or incorrect data. By means of a digital transport contract, we create the basis for enormous time and cost savings in the following areas: Obtaining real-time information about the shipment and simplifying billing via factoring

11:30 Logistics moves goods AND people

Logistics - that's people. A large part of value creation is still controlled, influenced and operationally delivered by them. This fact is often given too little attention in the digitalisation of logistics processes. Technologies, topics around artificial intelligence and various cases around automation and IoT determine the debate. This discourse is right and important. However, any outcome has to be tested on people, who are the driving force in today's logistics based on division of labour, as well as on the basis of the prevailing processes in the company, its procedures and organisational framework conditions. An appropriate approach to the introduction of digital logistics solutions in conjunction with the associated transformation processes is therefore of particular importance. How this can be achieved is the topic of the speech.

10:45 Sustainability beyond Greenwashing and Greenwishing - How logistics can provide an impetus.

Net-Zero. CO2footprint. Emission reduction. Sustainability goals, sustainability reports and small nature-related advertising company films are fired from all pipes. When it comes to the quantity of sustainability goals formulated in a media-effective way, then humanity should very soon have completed the transformation to a more sustainable way of producing, consuming and living in general. So, everything is green in the economy. Unfortunately, we also live in the age of greenwashing and greenwishing. Intoxicated by their own Net Zero incense, the sustainability apostles strut through the church of the gullible with the CO2 targets as a monstrance. But the good news is: the age of greenwashing and greenwishing is coming to an end. Painting yourself green hasn't been a USP for a while. In addition, the number of those who expose greenwashing methods is increasing. The next evolutionary step in terms of sustainability is not only just around the corner, but has already begun. So how do we emerge from this age, without brandishing the morale club, losing pride in what we have achieved so far, and now complete this transformation into truly sustainable action? A large part of the emissions are in the supply chain. Logistics as a discipline is therefore an integral part of the overall emission and consequently it should also play a central role in any sustainability strategy, which it does not always do for the time being. Ecosystem thinking, open innovation, collaboration, but above all the collection and sharing of data are the impulses that can, maybe even have to, be set.

17:15 The Fusion of Order & Transportation Management: Streamline Planning and Execution

Transportation management systems (TMS) are typically stand-alone units that work alongside order management systems (OMS), which group orders and then transfer them to the TMS in batches to process and execute shipments. It’s a legacy approach in which the OMS essentially plans orders and the TMS executes on that plan. But what happens when exceptions arise, expedites are needed, or unexpected orders come through after a batch has been released? In this session, we’ll talk about some of the exciting ways in which supply chain orchestration technology has eliminated this siloed approach and enabled logistics teams to make faster, cost-effective decisions in an increasingly complex, global, and ecosystem-driven supply chain.

14:30 AI in logistics: Do you still make decisions yourself or do you already let decisions be made?

Every day, each of us faces with 20,000 decisions. Starting with the simple decision of what to wear today, to the fastest way to get to work, to how to complete work assignments on time. Every 3 seconds we make a decision and each of them costs us energy. Psychologists speak of "decision fatigue". In the increasingly complex world of logistics, right decisions must be made from the flood of data and information. Hardly feasible without software support. Let intelligent optimization software make the logistics decisions for you and save your energy for the really critical decisions. In our presentation, we will show how optimization software based on AI and OR supports plant logistics through digital decision making, from delivery to the complete yard management processes to dispatch.

Digital collaboration along the entire transport process in land transport

Logistics moves goods AND people

AI in logistics: Do you still make decisions yourself or do you already let decisions be made?

The Fusion of Order & Transportation Management: Streamline Planning and Execution

The right energy strategy: Advice instead of guesswork

The STILL Logistics Talk Cheap and available was yesterday. Energy is the fuel of the economy. Prices are skyrocketing. And even in the country of the multiple logistics world champion, availability can no longer be taken for granted. In addition, new political ideas put additional pressure on the kettle every day. Companies are therefore struggling to decide how they should proceed strategically with regard to the energy issue in (intra)logistics. Because one thing is certain: carbon dioxide neutrality in logistics will come - the only question is when. Key questions are: Do you build up a large competence team internally or do you rely on partners? But which partnership makes sense in the long term? And which technology strategies should be pursued?

Top-class experts bring a topic frequently discussed in the abstract back down to earth - to the logistics hall - expose greenwashing and provide useful tips - also and especially for small and medium-sized enterprises....

So young and yet already a tradition: IwmL provides a general overview at the end of an exciting and content-packed trade fair. What has happened in logistics? What didn't? What did we particularly like about this year's Summit and what didn't (except the long journey from Hamburg)?

Jörg & Jens from Irgendwas mit Logistik try to answer these questions in their annual status update and provide insights into their high and lowlights as well as the logistics of tomorrow.

Logistics 2030: If you don´t move with the times, ...

Thesen am Tresen – The STILL Logistics Talk Multiple crises are forcing us to rethink, working worlds are in upheaval and artificial intelligence will change everything for everyone. The fact is: logistics is on the threshold of high-tech and those who do not move with the times, will be left behind. Logistics 2030 must be rethought and reimagined. Do away with the comfort zone. Transformation is the task of the hour.

But where to start with the transformation? Is there a formula for success? How do you think automation and working worlds together, and in which areas of (intra-)logistics will artificial intelligence make human workers superfluous first? Or is transformation just the next hype to be fussed about? Experts discuss provocative theses and identify crucial success factors.

PickGPT: A new generation of intelligent robotics powered by LLMs

PickGPT is the world's easiest tool for instructing and programming robots. The combination of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Sereact's Computer Vision enables robots, on the one hand, to understand natural language, making them intuitive to operate even by humans without prior knowledge. On the other hand, the Transformer enables them to orient themselves in complex, dynamic, and unstructured environments through zero-shot planning. PickGPT is therefore ideal for setting up robots in environments such as warehouses, where picking, placing, sorting, and adapting to changes are among the most important requirements.

Real End-to-End Transparency in Logistics

How to get rid of use-case silos, technology barriers and vendor locks

Transparency is one of the key buzzwords in logistics these days, in order to cope with shaken supply-chains and volatile industrial production. Nowadays there are still many siloed solutions out there. Fueled by massive investments, logistic startups are competing to build holistic freight tracking platforms and warehouse management solutions. But there is another approach to achieve transparency in logistics. Standardization. This masterclass will introduce omlox – the open locating standard and its eco-system of interoperable solutions – ranging from freight tracking, yard management, warehousing, and material flow in production.

Do you still bear all risk of your project? The path to successful projects from a new perspective.

Projects in fulfillment and distribution are becoming increasingly complex, systems have to be flexible and scalable, and the business to be supported by the solution is changing at an ever faster pace. Success or failure of the project depend on successfully defining goals in a multi-stakeholder approach – and on a myriad of other parameters. IT requirements that are difficult to implement, budget overruns, delayed go-lives - in the end, the risks will always lie with the client. It will be his outgoing goods that will not be shipped in time.

Are there alternatives? Yes. Let us show you.
