After vocational training as a forwarding agent, Nils-Torsten Michel studied transport business management and logistics at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences. He started his professional career as executive assistant of a large road carrier, where he was in charge of tenders and logistics projects. He then moved to a well-known household goods manufacturer as a dispatch manager for a large distribution warehouse. Shortly after, he was entrusted to take over the logistics department of a plant, responsible for the supply chain management and production control. In 2006, he received an offer from HOERBIGER Antriebstechnik GmbH, the world's No. 1 in synchronization for automotive gearboxes, to move into the automotive industry as head of logistics for a production area. Since 2008, the coordination of group-wide purchasing of transport and logistics services as Commodity Lead Buyer was added. After the sale of the production area, he took over the optimization and conversion to SAP S4HANA of the plants of the Automotive Division (A) as Global Process Owner for the goods-moving logistics processes. As Compliance Manager (Customs and Foreign Trade) of Division A, he is also responsible for compliance with customs and foreign trade regulations and is therefore a member of various working groups and the customs committee of the VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry).
